Bailando Cuba 2017!

What a fabulous week we spent in Havana this year!! We had beautiful weather, amazing dancing (in school, outside of school, even at the beach!) But what I will remember most was your beautiful energy and smiles =)

Thank you to the amazing ladies and Shakiru who came on the trip. Thank you also to the wonderful Silvia and the wonderful teachers at the Casa del Son that welcome us back every year.  Your passion for dance never ceases to amaze me.  Gracias un monton!

I think the expression needs some updating, it's not an apple that keeps the doctor away, it's dancing every day, and (maybe a mojito or two).

Here are some pics from the week - I can't wait to do it all again! Te esperamos para 2018!

Better late than never, so they say...

Below is the short documentary I produced nearly a year ago through the SAW Video JumpStart Mentorship Program. It's far from perfect, but something I'm proud to have accomplished.

'La Rumba para Sobrevivir/Rumba to Survive' - provides an overview of the rich genre of music and dance that is distinctly Cuban. Rumba remains a source of livelihood for 'los rumberos', musicians, dancers and teachers of the art.

Hopefully it will answer some questions you may have about rumba.  If you have 16 free minutes, please check it out!
