Canada, it has been a great two months! Even despite the record low temperatures, the ice storm, and the strong winds that chilled me to the bone, spending time with family and friends after so much time away, has been wonderful. I had more time to get to know Toronto in these last two months, than in the last ten years. The city is full of small and charming neighbourhoods, teeming with great restaurants and cafes.
Above: Khao San Road, what you get when you mix a good Thai restaurant with hipster decor.
Back in Ottawa, I was impressed that Ottawa’s food scene is continuing to develop, I had my first meal at El Camino which gave me fond memories of Mexico, Gazellig appears to be living up to Beckta's goal for it to be a great neighbourhood spot, and Bridgehead even has its own app? Impressive! I can’t wait for the food trucks (Gongfu Bao and others), the festivals and the farmer’s markets to start up.
So after two months of the harshest winter in years, I’m heading to Cuba to study dance, visit old friends, and get to know a bit more of the country outside of Havana and Santiago. I will also be organizing Bailando Havana from February 7 to February 14, a one week dance intensive in Havana - hopefully the first of other events to come. While I am away, I will also post a few retroactive posts from my travels and volunteering in Guatemala.
I also wanted to take this time to thank you for visiting and continuing to visit my blog/website, even despite my four month hiatus between July to November in 2013.
I appreciate the support, and this website has been an opportunity to fuse together things in my life that bring me happiness: yoga, travel, photography, dance and the sharing of food (in no particular order).
I've updated the PORTFOLIO section of the site, so check it out when you get a chance. Last but not least, although I'm a few days early - Happy Chinese New Year!
